The ideal candidate is a person who can develop and implement creative, results-driven solutions for recruitment, retention, career development, compensation, benefits, and employee and labor-management relations. The ideal candidate takes a partnership and consultant approach, balancing attention to detail and an intrinsic care for DOI employees with laws, regulations, and policies.

Responsibilities by Level
Entry: Communicating basic HR information and procedures to customers by researching and gathering information from HR systems and documents
Mid: Providing authoritative advice on complex HR program areas such as recruiting and placement, position classification, employee and labor management relations, personnel security, compensation, and benefits.
Journey:
- Developing and interpreting agency performance management policy
- Developing legislative recommendations
- Training employees or managers on complex HR program areas
Senior:
- Creating, planning and managing unique and evolving HR functions
- Managing a large program area or an entire HR office
